There has been a marked increase in the number of attacks on ATMs in Switzerland. While there were only four cases in 2018, 2019 was a record year, with 22 cases. In 2020, the situation remained stable at 22 cases, though this was still a high level during a pandemic. More than ten cantons were affected (AG, BE, FR, GE, VD, BL, GR, JU, SO, TG and TI), and the criminals mainly struck in small villages near the border.
